01 / THE FOUNDATION

The Constitutions, in plain English.

Read the explanation.
Then read the source.

Browse every U.S. article and all 27 amendments, Florida’s 12 articles, and all 28 sections of its Declaration of Rights. These are introductory summaries, not a clause-by-clause legal commentary. Complete constitutional texts are linked below on their official sites.

02 / READ THE ACTUAL RULING

Appeals & case outcomes.

10 selected decisions
Outcomes clearly labeled

Selected appellate opinions and one supplied trial-court dismissal relevant to Florida sting litigation. A dismissal, a new trial, and removal of a lesser conviction are different results. Linked reproductions contain the opinions or order; confirm the mandate, later history, and current validity with counsel.

What does “dismissed” actually mean?

Dismissal orderedA court directs termination of a charge. Read which charge and why.

Nolle prosequiThe prosecutor drops a charge. This is not necessarily an innocence finding or a permanent bar to refiling.

Vacated convictionA conviction is set aside. Other convictions or further proceedings may remain.

New trialThe case returns for another trial. It is not an acquittal.

The Joyson entry links to a supplied July 20, 2026 dismissal order. It is a trial-court example; later docket and appellate history remain unverified. A favorable trial ruling can be appealed, as Panebianco illustrates.

03 / QUESTIONS WORTH ASKING

Build an informed conversation
with your defense lawyer.

These are research issues, not ready-made defenses. Begin with the statute in effect on the alleged offense date, the exact charge, and the complete record.

THE CENTRAL STATUTE

Florida Statutes § 847.0135

Subsection (3) concerns electronic solicitation. Subsection (4) addresses travel or attempted travel following specified electronic solicitation for unlawful sexual conduct, including with someone believed to be a child. Travel can be any distance. Other charges have separate elements.

Read the statute ↗
Three facts that do not automatically end a case: an adult-only website, an initially adult profile, or an undercover officer rather than a real minor. They may affect factual analysis, but they are not blanket exemptions from the law.
04 / BEFORE A PLEA OR SENTENCE

What could life look like afterward?

Prison, supervision, registration, and collateral consequences are separate layers. A shorter jail term can still leave decades of obligations. A no-contest plea or withheld adjudication does not necessarily avoid registration.

05 / CHECK THE RECORD

Find Florida case files.

Start with the county clerk’s criminal court records, not land records or a mugshot website. Availability varies by county, case, redaction, and access level. A portal link is not a guarantee that every affidavit is online.

From a name to a usable source

  1. Confirm the correct person, county, case number, and alleged offense date.
  2. Look for arrest or probable-cause affidavits, the current information and amendments, motions, orders, and disposition.
  3. Save the document date, docket entry, and page references. Check for later amended or corrected documents.
  4. If a document is unavailable, request it from the clerk or investigating agency. Exemptions, redactions, and fees may apply.

Affidavits contain sworn allegations. They are not verdicts, and a similarity in wording alone does not prove fabrication or entrapment.

Compare two affidavits carefully.

06 / PUBLICITY & A FAIR TRIAL

Examine the framing.
Preserve the evidence.

Editorial analysis below separates what a release says, what the court record establishes, and what remains unverified. Calling someone a predator in a press announcement is different from a statutory sexual-predator designation.

How other county announcements frame stings

What the circulation shows—and what it still needs

Cooked coverage appeared in Orlando and Tampa outlets and a Florida political-news publication. That supports a concern about reach beyond Osceola. It does not establish that every potential Florida juror saw it or could not remain impartial. Published dates, repeat broadcasts, geographic audience figures, and actual jury responses are stronger evidence than a statewide-prejudice assumption.

A change of venue is a legal question.

07 / FUNDING, PROPERTY & ACCOUNTABILITY

Follow the records.
Separate the findings.

Grants and forfeiture can provide real financial benefits to agencies. Whether a particular arrest was driven by an improper financial incentive requires further evidence. Dates, amounts, grant conditions, and actual property dispositions should be checked separately.

Funding announcements and program terms

Vehicles: impoundment is not forfeiture

Towing or evidentiary custody does not itself transfer ownership. A forfeiture judgment, return settlement, auction, and storage invoice are distinct records. Historical buyback reporting is labeled below; current Cooked vehicle forfeiture or resale has not been verified.

Justice-system employees in sting cases

Employment does not shield someone from prosecution. These sourced examples distinguish a conviction from an arrest allegation. An employee’s offense does not by itself prove corruption by the investigators, prosecutors, or court.

08 / YOU DO NOT HAVE TO NAVIGATE ALONE

Practical help. Human support.

Representation, advocacy, and peer support serve different needs. Confirm current availability and eligibility directly. Peer meetings and advocacy contacts do not create attorney-client privilege; ask your lawyer before sharing details of a pending case.

09 / MAKE THE NEXT CONVERSATION COUNT

A first-meeting checklist.

Use this as a preparation guide. Checkmarks last only while this page is open; no case details are collected or sent by this checklist.

Questions to bring to counsel

What must the state prove for each count? What discovery is still missing? Does the complete exchange support a defense or a jury instruction? Which motions and objections must be preserved? What deadlines apply? What release conditions need written clarification? What are the possible trial, plea, sentencing, registration, and appeal consequences?

10 / TRANSPARENT BY DESIGN

Sources & editorial scope.

Primary law first

Constitutional guides link to the National Archives and Florida Senate. Case entries link to judicial opinions reproduced by Justia or FindLaw, not marketing accounts of case results. Support entries link to the organizations themselves. Funding entries link to government announcements and statutes. Historical vehicle-return accounts are labeled as secondary investigative reporting.

Current 2026 statute links are starting points. Earlier offense dates may require earlier editions and session-law research. Constitutional wording must be read alongside controlling decisions.

A curated research starting point

This is not every Florida appeal, a live docket search, or an exhaustive defense manual. Opinion summaries were checked against the linked texts. No paid citator review or attorney review is represented. Later decisions and changes may affect reliance.

Support organizations are independently operated. Inclusion is not an endorsement or a promise of services. This site has no affiliation with a court, government agency, law firm, or listed group.

Research leads from correspondence

Relevant correspondence identified the supplied Joyson dismissal order, ICAC program and grant documents, case-law indexes, training materials, and C.A.G.E. support resources. Public law and public sources were used to verify publishable factual claims. Private email addresses, family narratives, and attorney correspondence are not reproduced here.

The supplied “Defense Issues for Motion to Dismiss” document is an advocacy draft about another case, not a filed ruling or verified legal authority. Its factual assertions and broad claims about officer liability are not treated as established law. Some Gmail attachments could not be read because of temporary rate limits. Unread packets and spreadsheets were not adopted as factual evidence.
